English for Speakers of Other Languages
(754) 321-5837
ESOL:
The English for Speakers of Other Languages program prepares non-native English learners with the skills they need to work successfully in the United States. The classes prepare students to communicate in English, to improve job skills and to further their technical and academic studies. Classes focus on life skills, reading, test taking skills, listening, speaking and writing. Our beginning classes prepare students to enter the ELCATE classes where the focus is on all aspects of attaining a career.
ELCATE:
The English Literacy for Career and Technical Education program is open to non-native English learners that have the goal of entering a career and technical program and are able to function at the low, intermediate level or higher in Adult ESOL.
Total Program Length:
ESOL & ELCATE students advance through the different levels at their own rate of learning. All ESOL and ELCATE classes/levels are open entry/open exit. Students may register for multiple classes up to 35 hours of instruction per week. The term length is based on an 18 week schedule.
