The Patient Care Technician program is designed to prepare students for employment as:
- Patient Care Technicians
- Nursing Aides and Orderlies
- Home Health Aides
This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills, expanding the traditional role of the Nursing Assistant for both hospital and long term care.The course content includes, but is not limited to:
- Personal Patient Care Skills
- Principles of Infection Control
- Home Health Care Services
- Physical and Safety Functions
- Phlebotomy Procedures
- EKG Modalities
- Restoration

Industry Certifications Available:
Students who successfully complete the Patient Care Technician program are eligible to take the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Exam.

Degree College Credit Transfer Opportunity:
There is an articulation agreement between the Broward Technical Colleges allowing students who have successfully completed the Patient Care Technician program to be given advanced standing in the Practical Nursing Programs. Students will receive 165 hours of credit.
