The Drafting program prepares you for employment as a draftsman. You will be given instruction to master the techniques and skill of mechanical and civil and structural drafting. You will use computer aided drafting (CAD) to design and draw detailed working plans and blueprints for the architectural, landscaping, construction, and manufacturing industries. Qualify for employment in positions such as Blueprint Reader, Drafting Assistant, Drafting Detailer I & II, Architectural Drafter, Civil Drafter, Mechanical Drafter, and Structural Drafter.
The Drafting REFRESHER courses - Auto-CAD, A+ CAD, ArchiCAD-3D & Solidworks - are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 11:00 am. These begin again on October 27, 2014 and run for 9 weeks.
Content:
- Learn drafting principles and techniques using manual drafting boards and tools
- Learn techniques and technology to prepare computer aided drawings (CAD).
- Learn how to plan, prepare, and interpret technical drawings and sketches.
- Training is provided in various fields of drafting, such as Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, and Structural.

Laboratory activities are an integral part of this program. These activities include instruction in the use of safety procedures, tools, equipment, materials, and processes related to these occupations.
Entrance Requirements:
- Take the Test of Adult Basic Skills (TABE) and attend orientation.
- Register for ABE/AAAE classes, if needed. (Depends on TABE scores)

- Complete a FAFSA application, if needed, and contact the Financial Aid Department at (754) 321-5738
- Register for the Drafting program.

NEXT EVENING/HYBRID CLASS (COMPLETE IN 22 MONTHS) BEGINS JANUARY 5, 2015 (Hybrid)
The Applied Welding Technology program offers students the opportunity to become skilled welders and welder helpers by providing instruction in the basics of welding, with equal emphasis on theory and hands-on experience. You will learn to confidently use gas and electric welding equipment. You will learn to work with steel, aluminum and stainless steel metals. Along with the hands-on training, you will learn blueprint reading and applied math. You will, at completion of all aspects of Applied Welding Technology, be eligible to gain an AWS welding certification.

Entrance Requirements/Procedure:
- Take the Test of Adult Basic Skills (TABE) ($10) and attend orientation.
- Schedule an appointment for an interview with Mrs. Franzie Williams by calling (754) 321-5732
- Enroll in ABE/AAAE remedial classes, if necessary (depends on TABE scores) Can start Applied Welding Tech course and attend remedial classes during same semesters.
- Have acceptable scores on the TABE: 9.0 in Reading, 9.0 in Math, 9.0 in Language on the "Difficult" level before completing certificate in Applied Welding Technology
- Complete the FAFSA application online and meet with a Financial Aid Advisor, if needed.
- Register for the next available Applied Welding Technology course.
