Nursing Assistant

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in Health. This course is designed to prepare students for employment as Nursing Assistants (Nursing Aides, Orderlies, and Attendants) in Nursing Homes, Hospitals, or other health care facilities.

The Nursing Assistant program is a blend of classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction. The course content includes, but is not limited to, interpersonal skills, medical terminology, legal and ethical responsibilities, safe and efficient work, gerontology, nutrition, pet-facilitated therapy, health and safety including Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Restoration Therapy, employability skills and more.

Total Program Length: 120 Hours (approximately 4 weeks Full Time)

Admissions Requirements:

STEP 1: Make an appointment to attend a Nursing Assistant Orientation by calling (754) 321-5814.

STEP 2: Complete the following in the Orientation:

  • Complete a physical examination and immunization form (available at the Nursing Assistant Orientation).
  • Complete the drug screening (cost - $32.) and submit the results to the Medical Office here on campus (form available at the Nursing Assistant Orientation).
  • Complete the FDLE Background Check or Fingerprinting (cost - $47.) with the School Board of Broward County (forms and information available at the Nursing Assistant Orientation).

STEP 3: Receive an acceptance letter from our Medical Office.

STEP 4: Call the Financial Aid Office: (754) 321-5738. When you come for an appointment with Financial Aid, bring yourlast years' taxes.

STEP 5: Register for the Nursing Assistant program.

Monday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 am - 2:30 pm
Tuesday and Wednesday - ONLINE
